About NT Polocrosse

Polocrosse in the Northern Territory

Whether you already play polocrosse in the Northern Territory and want to catch up with what’s happening OR you are visiting (or thinking of visiting) Darwin and want to make sure you can still play your beloved sport OR you love horses and are looking to participate in an equine sporting activity that both you and your horse will love – you are in the right place!

In Darwin we play Polocrosse in ideal Northern Territory Dry Season conditions (this means perfect temperatures and cloudless blue sky) from late April to August. All of our 5 Clubs welcome new players and assist in all areas to ensure your transition into the sport is most enjoyable. Polocrosse is one of the only sports where a whole family can play in the same team or chukka.

Freds Pass Reserve at Bees Creek (directions) is our main home base with some Carnivals being played at Robbie Robins Reserve, Berrimah (directions). Carnivals run most weekends commencing on Saturday mornings with finals Sunday afternoon. Many participants camp on site for the weekend, with plenty of stabling available for our horses. Each NT club take turns in hosting the Carnival’s and their Saturday evening entertainment is always a highlight of the weekend. Entry to our Carnivals is free and full catering services are available on site.

Polocrosse is one of the friendliest and most welcoming sports for Players, horses and spectators alike. Check out our calendar to see when and where polocrosse carnivals and trainings are held. Don’t be afraid to ask people questions and see what it’s all about. Contact Us for more information.

If you haven’t seen this exciting sport in person – you are missing out!

A Truly Australian Made Sport!

Polocrosse is a fast paced and entertaining team sport played on horseback. It combines the speed of polo, the strategy and tactics of netball, toughness of rugby and AFL, and the ball handling ability of lacrosse.

Anyone who wants to ride a horse can play polocrosse, which also helps improve riding skills. All ages and abilities are encouraged to play.
